Since 2012, DoranBrowne have built festivals around Samuel Beckett, Oscar Wilde and Brian Friel in the border counties of Ireland — Happy Days, the Enniskillen International Beckett Festival; FrielFest; and A Wilde Weekend — staged in churches, halls, secret gardens and small boat-only islands rather than conventional venues. Beyond Ireland, their work has included the Seamus Heaney HomePlace opening programme, Liverpool’s Sgt. Pepper at 50, a Waste Land centenary festival across twenty-two City of London churches, and the Ulysses European Odyssey, an eighteen-city project marking the centenary of Joyce’s novel. Their work has been covered by The New York Times, The Times, The Telegraph and The Guardian.

Liam Browne, Seán Doran’s creative partner of over twenty years and co-founder of DoranBrowne, died in February 2026, aged 65. He was also a novelist — his 2006 book The Emigrant’s Farewell, published by Bloomsbury, drew on his native Derry. This page is dedicated to his memory.
